He asserted that individuals in each state should have the autonomy to determine what is most beneficial for their communities. However, in contrast, he now opposes the notion that citizens of each state should have the authority to govern their elections, asserting that control should be centralized within the Federal Government. Ultimately, it is contradictory for a political party to advocate for limited government intervention in individuals’ lives while simultaneously employing every available governmental mechanism to impose its will upon them.
