Good afternoon. I’m Ryan Rose, and this is AlterNet America. Please take a moment to click the ❤️ and restack this post. The oligarchs’ platforms are trying to keep stories like the ones below from hitting your feeds, and this helps us break through.
Homeland Security Investigations raided Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home in Washington, D.C. this morning. Elon Musk has become the single largest donor in the 2026 midterm elections. The Air Force is holding Major Jason Watson in solitary confinement for calling on the country to impeach the president. And far-right election groups are targeting nursing homes.
Before we get started, the billionaires are squeezing independent media and we need your help. Our stories are being suppressed on Facebook, where many of you first discovered us, after we called out Mark Zuckerberg for being a Trump lackey. Elon Musk, the GOP’s top donor, is also censoring AlterNet America’s stories on his social media platform. We’re clearly getting under their skin, but we can’t keep this work going without you.

Federal Agents Raid Rep. Ilhan Omar’s D.C. Home
The Godfather needed three movies to do what this guy does before breakfast on the toilet.
Agents with Homeland Security Investigations raided the Washington, D.C. home of Rep. Ilhan Omar early Monday morning around 6 a.m. The Justice Department said it had authorized the operation as part of an ongoing federal investigation.
Two sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News Digital that the search is the result of a supposed criminal fraud investigation into Omar’s immigration paperwork, which was completed by her late father when she was a child.
For years, the Trump administration has targeted Omar with a long-running, unsubstantiated claim that she married her brother to help him get into the country. Omar has repeatedly denied the accusations, and no court or government agency has produced any evidence to substantiate them.
Vice President JD Vance in March said the administration was going to “go after” Omar for alleged immigration fraud and Border Czar Tom Homan last month confirmed there was a criminal investigation ongoing. Trump has repeatedly told Omar to “get the hell out of our country.”
Elon Musk Has Spent $276 Million on GOP Midterm Campaigns Since July
He promised to stop spending on politics the way he promises every woman this time will be different.
Elon Musk has become the largest donor in the 2026 midterm elections, contributing $276 million to Republican groups since July, according to a report from The New York Times. The spending comes just over a year after he said he would cut back on political donations.
The Senate Leadership Fund, which supports Republican Senate candidates in swing states, received the largest donation of $158 million. Another $76 million went to America PAC, a group created by Musk himself. He also donated $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, and $10 million to a PAC backing Texas Republican Ken Paxton in the Senate.
Musk has also given money directly to some of the most right-wing members of Congress, including Lauren Boebert, Anna Paulina Luna, Eli Crane, and Andy Ogles. Most are in safe Republican districts, and are members of the House Freedom Caucus.
Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the spending Monday, writing on X that “Elon Musk spent $290 million to elect Trump. It paid off.” He noted the world’s first trillionaire has gained $696 billion since the election, and called on Americans to “STOP MUSK. STOP OLIGARCHY.”
Air Force Holds Major in Solitary Confinement for Criticizing Trump
The January 6th guys brought gallows and they got pardons.
Air Force Major Jason Watson, who called for Trump’s impeachment on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in July, is being held in solitary confinement awaiting a military court-martial. Watson’s lawyer said he has been in isolation for almost two months.
Watson, a 40-year-old Air Force Academy graduate with 17 years of service, stood on the Capitol steps in his uniform holding a sign that read “Impeach Convict Remove” to protest the administration’s military actions in Iran, Venezuela and Cuba. He was arrested that day by the Capitol Police, but the civilian charges were later dropped.
The Air Force then took Watson into custody and charged him under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which prohibits active-duty service members from making contemptuous remarks about the president. Watson has 10 specifications in three charges that include contempt toward officials, failure to obey orders, and conduct unbecoming an officer.
Watson became the first active-duty officer in the military to publicly demand Trump’s impeachment and removal from office. If convicted at a general court-martial, he faces years in prison, discharge from the Air Force, and the loss of all pay and benefits.
Election Denial Groups Are Targeting Nursing Homes Now
If you thought voter suppression was just for college campuses and inner cities, think again.
Election denial groups have begun targeting nursing homes across the country, claiming without evidence that left-wing organizations are stealing the votes of elderly residents. The effort is being coordinated by the Election Integrity Network, a right-wing group founded by Cleta Mitchell, who helped Trump attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
The network is now urging followers to download a toolkit from its website and call nursing homes in their area, asking the staff about voting procedures. The group posted social media maps of residential care facilities in competitive congressional districts in Arizona, California, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, identifying the elderly residents as potential “targets for political predators seeking easy access to ballots.”
The network has pointed to one 2020 Wisconsin case in which a sheriff claimed eight care home residents’ ballots were filled out for them. The Wisconsin Election Commission has repeatedly denied the claims.
The campaign received a boost in July when the Trump administration rescinded guidance on how nursing home staff could help residents vote. The agency replaced it with a memo threatening prosecution of staff who “engage in inappropriate coercion or other violations of residents’ rights.”
Support the Fight Against MAGA-Controlled Media
If this morning’s piece told you something the billionaire-owned outlets would rather keep quiet, that’s exactly the point. Billionaires like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are burying independent reporting like ours on their platforms while rubbing elbows with this president, and a paid subscription is the most direct way you can help fight back.
It costs about 22 cents a day, 22 days out from the election. So if you haven’t upgraded to a paid subscription yet, today is the day. With billionaires deciding what you get to see, every paid subscriber is one more voice they can’t silence. Please subscribe or upgrade now.

Federal Judge Orders Trump to Stop Airing Taxpayer-Funded Ads Glorifying Himself. A federal judge Sunday night ordered the Trump administration to stop airing television ads that used taxpayer money. The Department of Homeland Security had put $20 million of public money into the campaign, which featured clips of Trump warning about communism and reused one of his own 2024 campaign ads. U.S. District Judge Jennifer Rochon issued a temporary restraining order after the nonpartisan watchdog Common Cause argued the spending violated a federal law that prevents the government from using appropriated funds for propaganda. Even Senate Majority Leader John Thune went against the White House, telling reporters that the ads should never have been paid for by taxpayers.
Trump and Rubio Weigh Firing Kimberly Guilfoyle as Ambassador to Greece. The White House and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are reviewing whether to recall Kimberly Guilfoyle as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece after the Wall Street Journal reported she asked a Trump donor to secretly pay off a $100,000 credit card bill before her Senate confirmation hearing. In return, Guilfoyle allegedly promised the donor access to officials in the administration. All this took place while Guilfoyle was telling friends that she was broke after her engagement to Donald Trump Jr ended. Top Democrats on the House Foreign Affairs and Senate Foreign Relations committees have called for an investigation and said she should be removed if the allegations are substantiated.
Federal Judge Screams at Trump Officials for Cutting Down 500 Trees in D.C. A federal judge exploded at Trump administration officials Monday after discovering that they had cut down more than 500 trees at a public golf course in Washington without informing her. U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes had repeatedly ordered the government to notify her before any major demolition at the 106-year-old East Potomac Golf Links, which the administration wants to turn into a championship-level venue. Reyes told Justice Department lawyers that the removal had “cost the government all of its credibility” and ordered all tree cutting stopped immediately. She warned that if anyone breached the order “by two seconds,” she would start contempt proceedings.
Six Flags Installs One of the Largest Solar Carports in the United States. A theme park in Valencia, California now produces enough solar electricity to power itself and the water park next door. Six Flags Magic Mountain has finished a 12.37-megawatt solar installation over its parking lots, the largest solar carport in the state. The project covers 36 carport structures with 22,908 bifacial panels, providing shade for 4,315 parking spots and 109 EV charging connectors for guests and employees. The panels will produce approximately 20.8 million kilowatt-hours annually, equaling the total annual electricity consumption of both Magic Mountain and neighboring Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles. An excess of power is stored in a 2-megawatt battery system for use after sunset.
